Trend-Following Demo – 14 March 2012

(For demonstration purposes only. Not optimized for profitability. Trade at your own risk.)

Hold – AGI, BPI, DMC, MEG

Wow. Rush hour traffic from QC to Makati is a nightmare. Currently, I’m using the data from http://www.pse.com.ph to generate the trading signals for this trend-following demo. Have you ever initiated trades based on wrong information? If you are observant enough, you’ll see discrepancies between the data given by the PSE website, newspapers and various online brokerages. When that happens, one must be alert and have the resources and initiative to determine the correct data source.
An alert fellow trader once saw his online trading account reflect an unusually high number of shares, more than what he remembered owning. Like any good tsupitero, he unloaded the magical shares onto the market, only to be told by his brokerage later on that the system had malfunctioned and his opportunistic trade was null and void. Now, how all that came to be, I really don’t know. Your guess is as good as mine.
Be vigilant. Trend-follower or not, data sources can be wrong, leading to wrong trading decisions.
